Ronni Le Tekrø needs no introduction.
His work with TNT -primarily- and Vagabond [along with mighty Jørn Lande] speaks for itself.
He and Tony Harnell are responsible for some of the best MHR songs of the *Glory days* [mid 80s to early 90s]
Permanently imprinted in memory, they are rightfully considered classics – I wouldn’t know which to mention first.
Alright, but what about “Extra strong string”?
Well, if you’re expecting something similar to TNT you might be disappointed. You won’t find any “As far as the eye can see”, “Seven seas” or “10000 Lovers in one” kind of songs here.
It’s much more *experimental*, I think that’s the appropriate word; even a classic cover such as Alice Cooper’s “Welcome to my nightmare” sounds a bit odd.
On the other hand, that’s exactly the point of putting out a solo record. Releasing material you wouldn’t normally do with your main band.
Strong points:
Versatile, a mix of different styles; All tracks are above average.
Balanced use of guitar effects but nothing flashy for the sole purpose to impress the listener.
I particularly enjoyed the “Talk Box” effect in a couple of songs [I always wondered why guitarists don’t use it more often, it’s WAY TOO COOL]
Le Tekrø’s vocals ain’t bad either.
Which reminds me:
This is NOT an instrumental album, I’m sure some of you will be pleased to know that 😛
The verdict:
Nice addition to your collection [completing TNT’s discography] but not essential.
In other words, if you find a cheap copy somewhere [I bought mine for 3£ plus delivery expenses] I suggest you grab it.
If not, you need not to lose your sleep over it 😉
Trivia:
This is the second edition, I realised that after visiting Le Tekrø’s official site.
The cover of the original issue released in 2000, depicts an elephant walking on a string, hence the title “Extra strong string”

Thanks, this is indeed a great album, I managed to pick it up a few years back.
I love “Can’t stop falling”, I think it’s a great song. Of course, Ronni’s guitar playing is great on all tracks.
Thanks once again, my friend.
I’ve had this for ages at a feeble 192 kbps rip, so this was at the top of my upgrades list.
Cheers.
I have to check it out. Thanks!
