It’s 100% Dokken alright, no denying that, but what about the songs?
Despite Jon Levin’s excellent guitar work [very close to George Lynch in both style & tone], the album is a hit & miss.
Not by far, but a miss nevertheless.
Unlike most listeners (especially fans of my age) I wasn’t thrilled the first time I heard it.
I thought maybe a couple of years -and a few more listens- later I’d appreciate it more, but I still haven’t changed my mind…
The most memorable part has to be the main riff of track #12 “This fire” [“Back for the attack” material for sure], that says a lot.
All in all, a lukewarm effort: 6★ out of 10
