Just curious, what is the correct songwriting credit for the song “Live it up”?
Your FLAC tag says “St. James/Simmons/Thayer”, but sites like Wikipedia, Allmusic, etc say “St. James/Simmons/Warner”.
I need to tag my files correctly, including the composer field.
Thanks in advance for the info 🙂

You hit a nerve there Adrian.
I, too, give a lot of attention to credits: “Being attached to details” that’s what most people say…
My only objective, though, is to be accurate.

I’m afraid the booklet is not very enlightening – there are a few references (mainly focused on Gene Simmons’ contribution, taking the band under his wing etc) but nothing detailed.
So, don’t expect a definite answer as to who wrote what.
This time I had to rely on whatever sources I could find on the net (Discogs, AMG, Wikipedia etc) like you I suppose.
And you know what? I hate it when that happens (Normally I would visit such sites strictly for cross-checking purposes)
What’s worse, the results of the databases don’t always match!
The unsuspected visitor will probably use that incorrect information extending the problem even further – it’s a vicious circle really 🙁

You know who might help? “KISS Army”.
Look for someone who has explored the entire family tree, including of course the works of Tommy Thayer prior to joining the band.
KISS fans are truly devoted, I’m sure something will come up 😉

Live it up” credits according to ASCAP.com

    Writers:
    SIMMONS GENE
    ST JAMES JAIME H
    WARNER JEFFREY WILLIAM

I don’t know if that link will work. The main site is ASCAP.com

    Edit:
It just occurred to me that -apart from this CD/DVD box set- I have at least one Black ‘N Blue album on vinyl.
It should be a first pressing too. Let me check it and get back to you…

OK, found it (I had to dig it up, I haven’t touched the turntable for ages!)
Original pressing alright as assumed; cut-out mark/price tag is still attached (500 drachmas/€1,5 in today’s prices)

    Record Label: Geffen Records
    Catalogue Number: GHS 24180
    UPC: 07599241801

The credits are as follows (I kept the exact order of how the names appear)

    01. Tommy Thayer/Jaime St. James/Gene Simmons
    02. Pat Regan/Jaime St. James/Tommy Thayer/Gene Simmons
    03. Tommy Thayer/Jaime St. James/Jef “Woop” Warner
    04. Jaime St. James/Tommy Thayer/Pat Regan
    05. Tommy Thayer/Jaime St. James
    06. Jef “Woop” Warner/Jaime St. James/Gene Simmons
    07. Tommy Thayer/Jaime St. James/Adam Mitchell
    08. Tommy Thayer/Jaime St. James
    09. Tommy Thayer/Jaime St. James
    10. Jaime St. James/Gene Simmons

Here’s the vinyl edition at RateYourMusic (some minor corrections I submitted are pending)

You can make all the necessary arrangements using Tag & Rename (or any other similar programme) or I can delete the files and re-upload both mp3 and FLAC rips using the corrected tags…

-21grams, many thanks for the replies and info – The KISS connection totally escaped me…
I just checked KISS Related Recordings and the songwriting credits match the ones you found on the vinyl.
    Cheers 🙂
