#12 “Heartbeats” [Rghost.net]#13 “Longing” [Rghost.net]Thanks for the fine quality share.
Boo…
Only a few good/decent (not great) songs in this album. He needs to change things up, getting stale.

What’s the Password?
Thank you very much, however, in the FLAC rar I get the following:
Everything else works – mp3 rar is OK.
Step 1
Confirm that the archive in question was fully downloaded by checking its size.
The FLAC rar should be 382,65 MB – if it’s less than that (and I mean considerably smaller, not just a few kB) you’ll need to download it again.
Step 2
Assuming the filesize matches the value given, you’ll have to verify its integrity by comparing the respective MD5 or SHA-1 Checksums.
In order to do that, a hash-checking programme is required.
I recommend the following:
[You don’t have to install all of them, any one will do the trick ;)]
■ winMd5Sum: Nullriver.com
[A portable installer can be found at Sourceforge.net [PortableApps.com]]
■ HashCheck: code.kliu.org
[The developer has included an enlightening FAQ section guaranteed to answer all your questions, I strongly suggest to read it]
■ HashTab: Implbits.com
[Also available for Mac]
Depending on the results, you’ll need to either update the file-extracting programme you’re using (if the hashes match) or repair the archive (if it turns out to be corrupted – rather uncommon btw)
[Note: RAR repair is a feature currently available only in WinRAR]
The FLAC file is 382,7 MB.
I’ve downloaded the file twice -not the same day- and had same results with UnRarX, RAR Expander and StuffIt.
You’re a Mac user? I wish you told me from the start, it would have saved us a lot of time…
It appears that the vast majority of File Archivers for OS X cannot handle password-protected RARs adequately.
On top of that, the developers of some of the popular ones don’t seem that keen on updating them regularly.
The latest RAR Expander version for example, was released in 2006!
Significantly outdated if not downright obsolete 😡
As I said earlier, when the checksums match, you’re only have your programme(s) to blame. PERIOD.
Update to the most recent edition (when available), or get rid of it (them) altogether and look for a replacement, preferably a well-maintained piece of software with a steady release cycle. It’s of vital importance.
As a person that hasn’t even seen a Mac from up close let alone use one, I’m in no position to recommend a specific utility.
I can, however, refer you to another Mac user who managed to solve the same problem you’re currently facing:
The last Stuffit Deluxe Expander version did the trick 😉
I did a little research too and bumped into Bandizip X.
According to the Changelog, they fixed a bug related to “Failure to extract password protected .RAR files with solid compression” in v1.2.2 [current version is 1.2.4 released on March 2013].
Give it a try and then report/rate it/leave a comment in Mac App Store, whatever you Mac users are doing…
I have extracted other FLAC RARs of yours in the past (e.g. “Professor Satchafunkilus” & “Unstoppable momentum”) without any problem.
I own a PPC Mac with OS X 10.4.11 and have also tried 7zX and Unarchiver to no avail:
Have you tried to open your own FLAC RAR?
I gave explicit instructions about what to do which you totally ignored.
If you had only compared the checksums as asked, I would have known what the problem was right from the start!
Not to mention I wouldn’t have to prepare an entire guide, looking up every little detail that may or may not affect RAR extraction under OS X.
Let this be a lesson to you all.
The whole point of including hashes is to not to have to GUESS if an archive is corrupted or not.
As long as the recipient provides the required feedback, I know with ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY and act accordingly.
In this case for instance, the checksums DO NOT coincide.
This is how the original [stored in the Hard Disk] FLAC RAR looks like after testing:
And here’s the corresponding checksums:
See now?
MD5: 2d670c64be15c53d49a02a9cf2f12591
and
SHA-1: 7840693de46dc5d93ad8489d09eab45bdc159197
Had you installed HashTab as suggested, you would have seen the following instead:
MD5: 5fc87ac4ade2d5157763d1be36994892 (≠2d670c64be15c53d49a02a9cf2f12591)
and
SHA-1: 3324165f4a7c88516a2b0413b9937161169e259c (≠7840693de46dc5d93ad8489d09eab45bdc159197)
…resulting in this:
There is even a (single) command in OS X Terminal if you can’t/don’t want to spare $1~$2 to buy an app as demonstrated here & here.
btw, Anonfiles.com has recently decreased the maximum allowed file size from 500 MB to 250 MB which means it’s no longer an option for albums in FLAC -or any other lossless- format.
(I’d have to repack it creating a multi-volume RAR etc which would most likely cause even more confusion)
And since the thread has been red-flagged years ago, no other Cyberlocker -at least known to me- would host the archive in its servers for more than a few days. It’s bound to be *reported* for copyright infringement blah, blah, blah.
In short, a vicious circle.
-21grams I’m really grateful for the work they do, it’s good to know that the music is broadcast caring copyright, but also have the same problem, and I’m afraid the problem is host to download the file.
I suggest if it is okay to be re-upload the file.
And in advance thank you very much and hope to take into account my opinion, excuse my bad English this is a translation of Google.

Faulty RAR!
The Joe Satriani – “Black swans and wormhole wizards” [FLAC] download from Anonfiles.com is faulty and requires use of the RAR recovery process to repair the file prior to extraction.
While the repaired file appears to be okay, I’m not really comfortable with it at all.
A known error-free download would obviously be preferable to a faulty one that needs repair.
Unfortunately all the download links for this album seem to be dead now. 🙁
Give Anonfiles.com another try 😉
@-21grams
Sorry -21grams, but Anonfiles seems to have closed up shop.
A real pity too cause they were surprisingly fast in free mode!
Anonfiles is not done, I just downloaded an album yesterday from them.
Hey friend, FLAC links are not available anymore. Hope you re-upload it.
Thank you.
