I think you went too far…
Avaxhome is yet another warez site (“multilingual blog” according to the FAQ), which means that:

    1. It’s full of annoying and occasionally distracting ads.

    2. The owner(s) is (are) making a profit the exact amount of which and how they utilise it, is undetermined.
The earnings could be merely used to pay for the server expenses etc (both understandable and fair) or go directly into their pockets.

    3. Although the statistic sample is insufficient (I only clicked a few posts randomly), I’d say that most *contributors* have a few things in common:
    a) Their contribution is limited to uploading files found *elsewhere* (meaning they had nothing to do with creating the respective audio, video etc) and
    b) Gathering “RapidPoints” seems to be one of the main concerns; as you all know the maximum allowed size on Rapidshare has been increased from 100 to 200 MB (2 years ago or so).
Seeing archives split in smaller parts, is an insult to anyone’s intelligence and that seems to be the case here.

The FAQ/Disclaimer, however, seems decent. Theoretically.
Among other things, members are not allowed to publish material from *external sources* (not their own) without first giving CREDIT to the original ripper/preparer etc.
Nonetheless, having a set of rules and keeping them are two different things…
    Bottom line:
Avaxhome may have some considerable disadvantages, but -unless you have some sort of evidence or at least an indication to support your point- visitors don’t need to worry about virus infections.

Don’t know why the 2nd anonymous is so worried about. There is no problem with music DL from AvaxHome.
On the other hand, people have to be cautious when downloading software.
    Cheers.

Excellent post Alex! One of the greatest modern guitarists out there…
Too bad I’ve been informed about the Athens gig really, really late 🙁
Congratulations for your blog and HQ ripping process standards 😉

Sorry, but McAfee Site Advisor gives me a warning.
As a general rule, .ws domains are usually malicious sites. My only intention was to warn YOU.
Your blog should stay crap-free… 🙂
    Cheers.

Sorry, but McAfee Site Advisor gives me a warning.

You should consider dumping McAfee then. Terrible Anti-Virus programme that I haven’t used for a long, long time.
Despite the ads and everything, AvaxHome.ws is a decent site. Found many goodies there.

Felt compelled to post a comment here regarding Avaxhome
I have been travelling the music blogosphere for several years now, and the one site that has regularly fucked with my computer is that very one.
Yes, they have a ton of great stuff there, but please be forewarned that you may be scrambling for a good virus removal program afterwards.
    For what it is worth…
