You know some people are workaholics.
I think it’s safe to include Göran Edman into that category.
I mean, I was checking his discography the other day and realised he had 5 albums released in the past year only 😯
NOT counting guest appearances!
Wow, that must have broken Jeff Scott Sotoʼs record 😛
This time he joins forces with 7-string Ibanez guitar -don’t blame me for unnecessary details, he was the one posing with one of the “Universe” models- virtuoso Stefan Lindholm.
The result is a melodic heavy/progressive metal album, lots of neoclassical solos (but not as many as to call this a merely neoclassical) and yet another stellar performance by Mr. Edman.
I must say one of the (many) reasons I bought “Vindictiv” was because I thought the mp3-rip that was (is) floating around was defective.
It concerns the last track, “Fata Morgana”: I was under the impression that -due to some sort of problem e.g. scratched CD, low quality rip etc- the beginning was truncated [meaning a few frames/milliseconds were skipped].
I was proved wrong, that song was just too *advanced* starting off unexpectedly as if a part of it is missing.
I don’t know, perhaps a fade-in in the final mix would make it smoother; also, the time signature is a bit complex too, at some points sounds *asymmetrical*.
But hey that’s what Progressive is all about, right?
